Well one was enacted and one wasn't. The one that was passed and was the only one that was going to be passed, had more cuts to education and other programs for the low-income.

The state was going to be in the black regardless with whoever was in there when you are cutting 2+ billion from the budget. Sorry, but cutting to programs that need it just to "go back in the black" mean's nothing to me. Slightly raising taxes would have went a long way in helping with the budget, but that was never considered. It's how he went about doing it is the problem, when it was going to be in the black regardless means nothing really.

Interesting opinion but I do disagree a cut is a cut and it is going to hurt reguardless of where it hits If raiseing taxes would have solved the problem then let a canadate run on that platforme and when elected do just that IMHO you would have a better argument if the Budger for Va was not back in line or if all the other states that tend to raise taxes insted of makeing tough cuts were doing well.

I tend to agree that the cuts were the way to go but honistly I can see both sides of it and while I would not like to see my takes go up I don't thik I woould start pickting that captle eaither LOL

Regardless of whether there were cuts, or taxes were raised, The fact remains that according to the state constitution, the state is required to balance the budget. In times like we are living in, with the average person having to cut back, I would think that showing restraint is raising taxes and instead making cuts was the smartest thing to do.

Pretty much every state has that same provision about the budget though. Taxes needed to be raised, small taxes won't break anyone's pocketbook and we'd avoid things like this.

Small taxes alone will not break anyone but it can be the last straw with so many more people now liveing paycheck to paycheck every dollar counts like no other time in my adult life

I don't think it would be the last straw at all, not even with the lower class. Like a raised tax on tobacco or the soda tax I've been so for, those wouldn't break anyone. People don't cut back nearly as much as they should to begin with, if these are the same ones you see buying cigs, mountain dew and lottery tickets everyday.

IDK could be the death by 10000 cuts (none would kill on there on but but as a whole it is not good)
